Pakistani Food in Slough: Biryani, Karahi and Traditional Favourites

Menu Stories2 min readUpdated October 2026
Quick answer

Pakistani food is built around slow-cooked sauces, grills, fragrant rice and bread for scooping. Dawat Heathrow serves these dishes at Crown Meadow, London Road, Slough SL3 0LU, with a menu made for sharing. Here is a guide to what is on it and how the flavours differ.

Starters and street food

Chaat is the classic way to begin: papri chaat (crispy wafers, spiced potatoes, chickpeas, yoghurt and tamarind chutney), gol gappay (hollow puris filled with spiced potato and chickpeas, finished with chilled, tangy pani) and samosa chaat. Vegetable samosa, onion bhaji and tandoori paneer tikka are on the menu too.

The grill

The grills are made for sharing: chicken tikka, seekh kebab (hand-shaped minced meat with green chilli, herbs and warm spices), lamb chops, chicken tandoori and a mixed grill of lamb chops, seekh kebabs, lamb tikka, chicken tikka and crispy wings. The Maha Tawa Grill is a sharing feast with grills, naan, biryani and table favourites. Read our grill guide.

Karahi and curries

A karahi is a rich tomato masala cooked with ginger, green chilli and fresh coriander. Dawat serves chicken karahi and lamb karahi, alongside butter chicken, saag paneer, tarka daal and nihari, a slow-cooked, deeply spiced stew served with fresh ginger and herbs. Our karahi guide explains more.

Curries can be made mild or hot to suit you. Shahi Butter Chicken is the mildest dish, and Chicken Madras and Lamb Madras are the hottest. Tell the team how you like it.

Biryani, rice and bread

Biryani comes as chicken, lamb, royal or prawn, with pilau rice and naan or kulcha alongside. See our biryani guide.

Desserts

Finish with rabri kheer, a creamy rice pudding with cardamom, saffron, almonds and pistachios, or matanjan (zarda), a sweet rice with saffron, cardamom, dried fruit and nuts.

Is it halal?

Our kitchen is fully halal, and Dawat Heathrow is a franchise of the halal-certified Dawat Group.
